We've built comfort into every feature of Terrace Cottage
An efficient kitchen with full-size appliances, a gas cooktop and plenty of cooking gear.
Sitting Room with a comfy full-size custom sleep sofa built in Hickory, North Carolina. The Cottage kitchen was planned for making wonderful meals. Amenities include a gas cooktop, fridge, oven, and microwave. Galvanized steel countertops, a deep double-bowl sink, serving bar, and dishwasher make food prep and cleanup a pleasure. Cooking and serving gear are provided, and let us know if you need a special cookpot or anything else. The local markets feature fresh trout and many other delights within comfortable walking distance. Use the condiments we've provided or pick culinary herbs from the Cottage garden. If you're too pooped to cook, you can order carry-out or delivered food instead, or walk or drive to one of the excellent local restaurants. For more adventurous tastes, visit a mountain lodge for the views to go with your meal, or pack a picnic for a day trip. The Cottage is a wonderful place for respite after trail walks and river trips. The mountains of Western North Carolina offer spectacular opportunities for outdoor recreation, and we're glad to provide you with suggestions and directions.
Between excursions, it's nice to rock or snooze for a while. The wicker rocker was a gift from my mother-in-law, and the comfortable new sleep sofa was built right here in North Carolina. We're building a Cottage library of regional writings, and you'll find a good selection of guidebooks, maps, and brochures with details about the local scene and surrounding mountain country. With plenty of room inside, the Cottage is still cozy.
Peace and Quiet A bit of privacy is always appreciated, and never more so than during your time away. We've made every effort to create a retreat where you can enjoy some restful downtime. Terrace Cottage has a private entry stairway and a comfortable deck fronting on a tall stand of native Hemlocks. The local skyline offers an outstanding mix of mature oaks, maples, and sycamores punctuated by the soaring Norway Spruce, our neighborhood's signature species introduced over seventy-five years ago. Sunset and Town Mountains rise to the East. The Cottage is insulated not only for warmth but specifically to reduce sound transmission, so you'll enjoy some peace and quiet during your visit.
